CPD compliance for the period ending 30 November

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many face-to-face continuing professional development (CPD) events have been cancelled. Members can take e-learning courses to meet the CPD requirements. If there is a shortfall in the required CPD hours, members can apply for an extension. Click here for details.

24 Oct morning. The annual conference, held virtually this year, will provide an update on the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board key projects including the new Quality Management Standards and ISA 600 revision. Other highlights include panel discussion on the implementation of revised auditing standards, and remote auditing.

Valuation from the perspective of restructuring and insolvency

Lunch webinar on 27 Oct. An expert valuer will make reference to case studies to discuss valuation concepts, considerations and difficulties relevant to restructuring and insolvency, as well as creditors' and potential buyers' underlying assumptions and concerns in assessing valuations and options.

HKEX's consultation conclusions: Codification of general waivers and principles relating to IPOs and listed issuers and minor rule amendments

Lunch webinar on 28 Oct. The speakers from Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) will discuss the details of general waivers and principles codified into the rules, including the reasons for, and the effects of, the new and amended rules.

Automation tips for the accounts payable process

Green Finance Connect Forum – ESG Implementation in HK

2 Nov. Free symposium organized by the Center for Economic Sustainability and Entrepreneurial Finance of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Friends of the Earth (HK). Key findings of the focus groups and some research on environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting will be presented at this ESG symposium. The symposium aims to address concerns related to the importance of ESG development and discuss how to put ESG into practice among corporate practitioners. Register online.

2020 Hong Kong Chartered Tax Adviser Conference

7 Dec. The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong will hold its conference "Tax is more than BEPS – Ways to strengthen business competitiveness". Speakers will discuss how the Hong Kong tax system could proactively address the challenges of the fast-changing international tax landscape and increased competition from neighbouring markets.
