HIGHLIGHTS

Two new e-Series courses on behavioral corporate finance and proper management of a company

CPD hour (for each): 2

Discover the two newly added courses:

1) Behavioral corporate finance that every accountant should know: Covering the ways of corporate managers and directors in making decisions; behavioral aspects of corporate managers and directors and the interactions between financial management and the group process.

2) Proper management of a company with emphasis on how to conduct directors' and shareholders' meetings: Covering pre-incorporation consideration; post incorporation operational issues; ways to convene a valid meeting and pass valid resolution.

Live webinar: Interest rate benchmark reform and its effects on financial reporting

CPD hour: 1

The lunch webinar on 12 Jan will provide an overview of the effects of the interest rate benchmark reform on financial reporting. The speakers will go through the amendments to financial reporting standards necessary to address issues arising from the reform, and walk through on how to apply the amendments with illustrative examples.

The webinar on 13 Jan will provide an overview of the recently published Auditing and Assurance Technical Bulletin 5 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Assurance Reporting, and a discussion on ESG assurance reporting in Hong Kong and areas for practitioners' attention.

The new series in Jan and Feb will cover hands-on knowledge and experience sharing regarding compliance with the Listing Rules and related issues. The approaches to cope and comply with the latest regulatory requirements and practices under the Listing Rules and the Codes on Takeovers and Mergers and Share Buy-backs will also be discussed.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Series – Audit and controls in ERP systems: Procure to pay process

CPD hour: 1

The webinar on 16 Jan focuses on two main procure to pay processes, that is procurement of goods and services and travel and expense claims processing and identify controls that should be embedded in ERP systems to reduce fraud, errors and omissions.

Institute/ Hong Kong Society of Notaries joint webinar: The practice of notary public and why it is important for international trade

CPD hour: 1

In the free webinar on 20 Jan, the speaker will explain how the notarial system works in Hong Kong and around the world to facilitate cross-border transactions and international trades and businesses.

Narrowing the audit expectation gap in relation to fraud and going concern

CPD hour: 1

The webinar on 22 Jan features a panel discussion between experienced forensic, audit and legal practitioners considering the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board's recently issued discussion paper on issues and challenges relating to the gap between what users of the financial statements expect and the realities of the financial statement audit.

E-learning seminar: Industry update relating to investment funds

CPD hour: 1

In this e-learning seminar, our speakers provide a regulatory and tax update relating to investment funds industry with particular reference to recent efforts in upgrading Hong Kong's private funds platform; and tax concession for carried interest of private equity funds.

In this webinar on 22 Jan, the speaker will talk about the fixed income securities mechanism, characteristics of Asian bonds and the strategies for investing in Asian bonds. He will also share some case studies to illustrate the latest Asian bond investments.
