Best Corporate Governance Awards 2020 invites entries
|
The Institute's BCGA are celebrating their 20th anniversary – and are open for entry. As the forerunner, the BCGA have promoted and highlighted the value of good governance, identified those listed companies and public sector organizations that represent best practices in Hong Kong, and encouraged others to follow suit over the years. The deadline for entries is 10 Aug.

A fast track to attain the CIA designation
|
The Institute, in partnership with The Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA), is pleased to offer Institute members the 2020 CIA Challenge Exam - a fast track way to attain the globally recognized Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation. The IDRP – A way of managing individual’s debt difficulties
|
The Interbank Debt Relief Plan (IDRP) promoted by the Consumer Credit Forum is of interest to highly indebted and financially distressed individuals who have a challenging time managing their financial difficulties. Members advising financially stressed individuals can share the following leaflet (English/Chinese) for more details. This is in line with the Institute’s guidance for businesses and individuals facing financial distress (English/Chinese).

Restriction on gatherings
|
The government has further extended the restrictions on gatherings. For the purpose of holding general meetings, groups are restricted to 20 persons. More information is available from the Companies Registry FAQs. For the latest information about the COVID-19 pandemic, visit the government’s webpage.

A Plus – Telling a better story
|
The June issue of A Plus features Charles Tilley, Chief Executive Officer of the International Integrated Reporting Council, on its revision of the International Integrated Reporting Framework. Other articles include the second of a series celebrating the Institute’s Best Corporate Governance Awards’ (BCGA) 20th anniversary, focusing on the best practices of public sector organizations; experts’ discussion on navigating China’s tax system from the Institute’s China Taxation Conference; and interviews with Simon Lee, Senior Lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and three CPA home cooks.

Recruiting QP workshop facilitators
|
The Institute is now recruiting workshop facilitators for the new Qualification Programme (QP). Members are invited to join us in unlocking the potentials of future-ready accountants. The general requirements for facilitators are:
- A minimum of four years' membership with the Institute
- Holding or recently held a responsible position in a professional, business, government or academic organization
- A working knowledge and demonstrated technical competence in the module subject matter
- Good command of spoken English

Renewal of mutual recognition agreements
|
The Institute's mutual recognition agreements (MRA) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and CPA Australia have been renewed for five years. A new MRA with the United States has also been signed, and is effective from 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2022.
