A Plus – Nurturing Trust |

To understand the current situation with environmental, social and governance (ESG) assurance Hong Kong, the Institute conducted a brief research covering all the December year-end listed companies for 2020. The report reflects a snapshot of where Hong Kong listed companies stand at the present time with regard to ESG assurance. |

The November issue of A Plus features Masahiko Tezuka, Chairman and President of the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants on nurturing accountants to meet society’s needs. Other articles include speakers and panellists at this year’s IT Victual Conference on how businesses can harness digital solutions to succeed in this day and age; interviews with tax experts on the Inland Revenue Department’s e-Filing Project; how to make mentorship work in a hybrid world; and a look at the key role of the profession in climate-related reporting. Two new Q&As with a PAIP and a PAIB about their careers have also been introduced. |

Take part in the Institute's ethics survey |
The Institute is conducting a survey on ethical attitudes of professional accountants in Hong Kong. The survey also covers how the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants contributes to their performance of professional activities. Take part in the survey by 17 January 2022. |

Best Corporate Governance & ESG Awards |
The flagship revamped Best Corporate Governance & ESG Awards presentation luncheon was held on 6 December with Dr. Kelvin Wong, Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council, as the guest of honour. 29 companies and organizations were recognized at the event, including 10 awardees in the inaugural Most Sustainable Companies/ Organizations Awards. Changes to the Qualification Programme |
The Institute’s Qualification and Examinations Board has made three changes to the Qualification Programme (QP). The four-attempt rule for the new QP will not be introduced. Students will be able to complete the examinations and workshops of the QP without any restriction on the number of attempts for each module. For more information, read the announcement sent to QP students. The 5-year recency requirement for the purpose of obtaining module exemptions from the Associate Level will be removed. Students will be able to apply for module exemption based upon a qualification acquired from a tertiary institution recognized by the Institute without any restriction on the time the academic qualification was obtained. Finally, the relevant papers passed in the professional examinations of the professional accountancy bodies recognized by the Institute can be accepted for module exemptions in the Associate Level. This arrangement only applies to the Associate Level modules 1 to 9. For details, click here. The above revised policies will be effective from 1 January 2022 and applicable to the December 2022 Examination Session onwards. |

Mentorship Programme 2022-23 |
Don’t miss the opportunity to learn from your seniors, or help the next generation to develop, through the Mentorship Programme! The Mentorship Programme provides an invaluable opportunity for members to learn from one another. Members with less than seven years' post-qualification experience (PQE) are eligible to apply as a mentee, while members with PQE of seven years or more and who are enthusiastic about nurturing young accounting professionals are encouraged to join as mentors. To learn how to make mentorship work in a hybrid world, read the recent A Plus article written by an experienced mentor. Register by 14 January 2022. |

Wong Chun Sek, Edmund has been elected to serve as a member of the Legislative Council for the accountancy functional constituency. His term of office will commence 1 January 2022. More details including the number of votes received by each candidate and the turnout rate are available from the official website of the 2021 Legislative Council Election. |

WAM Pilot Programme |
The Pilot Programme to Enhance Talent Training for the Asset and Wealth Management Sector (the WAM Pilot Programme), funded by the government, aims to facilitate the long-term sustainable development of the asset and wealth management sector. Summer Internship Programme 2022 Eligible firms and corporate practices registered with the Institute who participate in the Internship Programme to offer meaningful WAM-related work assignments can be subsidized by up to 75% or HK$7,000 (whichever is lower) of the honorarium paid.
