Enhanced interface of HKICPA Events app
|
Several updates have been made to the Institute's HKICPA Events app, including enhancements to the interface to improve your experience. One major update is the grouping of all live CPD events under the “Upcoming Events” tab. Easy access to A Plus and HKICPA Source through the app has also been added. Download it now to start exploring our full range of events and digital programmes, and enrol anytime, anywhere.

Importance of CPD declaration
|
Members are reminded to submit the continuing professional development (CPD) declaration with your Annual Return for Renewal. CPD records in MyCPA on the Institute website do not equate to a declaration of CPD compliance. Failure to declare CPD compliance will result in non-renewal of membership. Annual report published
|
The Institute's 2022 annual report is available now. Themed “Building upon Change”, the report focuses on the journey of the Institute and its members in navigating significant changes under the regulatory reform and major industry developments in Hong Kong. The photo essays feature members who are rising to meet major changes under the Institute’s redefined role and who have contributed to our various initiatives to build upon and thrive amid change.

Research report: Board diversity among listed companies in Hong Kong
|
The Institute conducted a brief study on the current state of board diversity in Hong Kong, which covered over 1,800 listed companies with their financial year ending on 31 December 2021, looking at board size, number of long-serving independent directors, and diversity, in terms of gender, age and professional qualifications, in particular, accounting qualifications. The Institute believes that embracing diversity in an organization’s culture and on its board can benefit the organization in various ways, including its business performance.

Best Corporate Governance and ESG Awards 2022
|
|
|
|
The Best Corporate Governance and ESG Awards presentation luncheon ceremony was held on 6 December. A total of 27 companies and public sector organizations were recognized in the 2022 Awards, including 10 winners of the top awards category, the Most Sustainable Companies/ Organizations Awards. “點去計” – A TV programme collaboration with ViuTV
|
A TV programme developed by the Institute in collaboration with ViuTV titled “點去計”, was broadcasted on ViuTV (channel 99) between October and November to introduce the accounting profession to the broader public. From different experiences on the career ladder to how accountants fulfil their social responsibility, the four-eposide programme takes the audience on a journey to explore the industry through articulating the lively dynamics of the accounting profession. Joint training collaboration with ACCA
|
|
|
|
The Institute, in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), brings HKICPA members two ACCA online certificate programmes on digitalization and ESG, and five ACCA courses on ESG at a preferential rate. Details of the courses can be found here, and are listed under newly launched Digitalization curriculum and the latest ESG curriculum.

Reminder: Mentorship Programme 2023-24
|
Don’t miss the opportunity to join the Mentorship Programme 2023-24 to enrich your development or contribute to the profession. Members with less than seven years of post-qualification experience may apply to become a mentee, while those with seven or more years, a mentor. Submit your application by 13 January.

If you have successfully registered for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on 12 February 2023 and are interested to compete with other CPA runners, join the Institute’s CPA Marathon Competition now. Simply provide your marathon race information with us by 12 January 2023 for registration and put forward your marathon result after the race according to details announced on a later date.

PIEAA launches survey on human capital trends in the accountancy profession
|
The Hong Kong Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors Limited (PIEAA) has launched the 2023 PIEAA Survey on Human Capital Trends in the Accountancy Profession in the HKSAR. The survey aims to know more about the vocational choices of accounting professionals in Hong Kong in the near future. HKICPA members have been invited to express their views in the survey which will take about 10-15 minutes of your time.
