Meetings with IRD and FSTB
The Hong Kong Institute of CPAs holds annual meetings with the Inland Revenue Department to discuss matters of an administrative or procedural nature relating to the practical operation of the taxation system. The meetings are usually held in January or February each year and the minutes of the meeting, which are prepared by the IRD and agreed by the Institute, are published in the form of an electronic tax bulletin. More immediate or urgent information arising from the annual meeting is published in TechWatch. Please click here for the relevant past issues of TechWatch. Members of the Institute are usually invited through TechWatch and the Institute's website, to draw the attention of the taxation faculty executive committee of the Institute to any issues that members feel could usefully be raised at the annual meeting.
The Institute has also initiated meetings with the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (Treasury Branch), which is the arm of the government that deals with tax policy issues. This complements the annual meeting with IRD, and the notes of the meeting are also published in the form of an electronic tax bulletin.
